Welcome to Deus En Machina, an ongoing fantasy story by Josh Craig.
Terribly sorry about not updating last week. Things have been a bit rough here but hopefully that's all in the past. Anyway, chapter 9 is out and my personal favorite so far. You can read it here.
At some point over the weekend I was planning on adding a news page to announce updates (or lack of them in those regretful cases like last week) or anything else of interest.
Please feel free to let me know what you think, both about the story and the website, either through comments or send me an email (deusenmachina [at] gmail [dot] com). I'd love to hear from you guys. I'm trying something I've never done before with this story, and it'd be nice to know if it's working or not from someone else's perspective. Thanks for putting up with me, and I hope you enjoy the story thus far and continue to do so well into the future (hopefully it's going to be a long and enjoyable ride).
The story itself is one of fantasy, taking place in a world where magic is commonplace and the people are protected by an organization known as the mage-knights. The telling of the tale encompasses all corners of the vast land. The mountains of the north, deserts of the west, jungles of the east and farmlands of the south all have their own parts to play as a dark shadow unwinds itself upon the unsuspecting world, dragging it ever closer to silent ruin.
Deus En Machina is written more or less as you read it, with new chapters released every Friday. Because of this I welcome your comments, and encourage you to tell me what you'd like to see more of. I'll do my best to accommodate the feedback I receive. I know where the story will ultimately end up, but there are an infinite number of ways to get there. After all, that's the fun both of reading and of writing.
And with that, I hope you enjoy my humble story. Start from the beginning.
